Photoworks is proud to present TIMELESS ‘26, historic  process images made by the Handmade Photo Group. The exhibition will be on view from  August 29 through October 4, 2026, at Photoworks in Glen Echo Park.

An Opening Reception and Gallery Talk will take place on Saturday, August 29, from 4–6  PM, offering visitors an opportunity to meet participating artists and hear insights about the work  on view.

In this annual exhibition of the work of the Hand Made Photo Group the Group’s photographers  express their creative voices using historic photo processes such as gum bichromate, wet plate  collodion, cyanotype, salted paper, platinum/palladium, and kallitype.

Established in 2022, following the first ‘Timeless’ exhibit, the Hand Made Photo Group has been  meeting on Monday evenings at Photoworks as practitioners and as a community. On these  evenings, members print using their chosen processes, share experiences, and support one  another. The 2026 ‘Timeless’ exhibit is powerful evidence of the strength of this community and  the creativity, expertise, and artistic maturity of its members. The works presented also  demonstrate the versatility of expression available from experimenting with these processes.  While most of these processes were at their peak in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, their  relevance today remains strong. In the hands of talented artists, these historic processes  provide a voice for contemporary expression. For some, this includes a reference to  photography’s Pictorial past. For others, these processes serve as tools for expanding  photographic boundaries. This exhibit highlights both the uniqueness of each individual’s vision  and their complementarity within the community. Each image is handmade and is an object that  exists only once in the world and that we hope will remain timeless.
