Karen Keating's photographic journeys, from her roots in the small town of Coshocton, Ohio, to her connections with people she met around the world are on view at Photoworks with 40+ handmade photos printed in the darkroom. Poignant portraits from Cuba and Honduras are showcased along with Keating's studies of Mothers and Daughters in DC during the 1970s. Her outdoor nightscapes reveal a poetic reverence for nature. Whether capturing moments of beauty or experimenting with portraits on infrared film, Keating’s signature style resonates.

 

This wide-ranging collection of photographic prints is united by Keating's superb eye, deep connections with people and place, and a rare ability to reveal subtle details in printing, in shades of black and white and all the shadows in between.
