Prints are displayed in the Photoworks Gallery at Glen Echo Park.  While supplies last.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S PHOTOGRAPHY:  ONE WEEK OF SUMMER CAMP

 

Enroll your young photographer in "The Basics of Film Photography for Teens" Camp for Youth.  This class runs Monday to Friday, June 27 - July 1 from 9am - 12:30pm at the Photoworks Studio. This week of photography will introduce photography by using different cameras: pinhole box, paint can, 35mm and 120 b/w film. Ages 13 - 18.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S SUMMER CAMP  -- INTERMEDIATE FILM PHOTOGRAPHY 

 

Intermediate students 13 to 18 will learn the art of film photography in this one week camp July 18 - 22 from 9 am - 12:30 pm. This class is for students with prior b/w film experience using 35mm cameras. There will be a review camera controls and an introduction to darkroom procedures.  After exploring Glen Echo Park thru their lens and practicing film and printing skills in the darkroom, each student will produce a set of five to seven images.  Editing and sequencing will be practiced. (Some 35mm cameras will be available.)

“WORLD OF WIDOWS” PRINT BY AMY TOENSING

"Milu the Muse" by Redeat Wona is an 11x15 inch signed palladium print from Red’s Modern Muse Series. Printed on Hahnemhle Platinum Rag Fine Art Paper. In making these images, the artist invites her sitters to come as they are and then gets to know them by spending hours at a time listening to their values. They share personal stories about their backgrounds and experiences and discuss how they navigate this world being a woman. Through these conversations, the artist develops a deeper understanding that helps her photograph her subjects  using a medium format film camera.  The Modern Muse Series has been photographed in trips to Ethiopia in collaboration with her muses -- strangers whom Red gets to know intimately through the process of photographing them.
