Artist Statement

My work seeks to understand the complexities of the human world through the quiet act of meditating on nature. Drawing on concepts from anthropology, philosophy, and spirituality, I work with historical photographic processes including platinum-palladium, cyanotype, and chemigrams to investigate the underlying structures, patterns, and relationships found within the natural world.

Orchids, butterflies, and the rhythm of the human heart become points of contemplation, as I find within them connections between the scientific, the societal, and the sacred. These observations and their final representations through light and chemistry illuminate larger questions of humanity, truth, beauty, and the mysteries of survival.
