Dis/Orientation
"Not assuming what we see is what we think it is"

February 7th - March 8th
Opening Reception
Saturday February 7th at 4pm - 6pm
Dis/Orientation is a project about how we look at and see things. Whether it is clouds without horizon or other reference point, or still life images that require interpretation to understand, Dis/Orientation is about having to take a second look, and not assuming what we see is what we think it is.

The exhibition title is “Dis/Orientation”. The overarching concept of the show is to depict things we see every day but from perspectives that challenge our perception of them. One group will be still life images out of scale with the actual object (small things big, big things small) and another group will be photos of clouds without a point of reference to say what is up/down/left/right.

He began photographing after graduating college, originally viewing it as a means to an end to create subject matter for painting and drawing, but upon seeing his first print appear in the developing tray, the alchemy of the process stole his heart and he decided to dive as far down the rabbit hole as possible. He has been working with historic processes since the early 2000s when he discovered the beauty of palladium printing. His work has been exhibited at galleries and museums in Washington DC, Oregon, California, Melbourne, Australia, Singapore, and Mexico City, Mexico.
