About the Course
Learn to make studio-lit 'portraits' of flowers and plants – not passport pictures outdoors at high noon – with lighting guru and best-selling author Frank Van Riper. Record floral and plant life as you never have seen it with lighting he will provide. More info: gvr@gvrphoto.com. Minimum age 18.
Frank Van Riper used to hate being a judge at camera clubs when the topic was 'Flowers' because so many shots were identical--and identically boring. With the flower in the center of the frame, usually in closeup, and most often shot in bright sun, the flower did all of the work. All the photographer did was press the shutter release. Take this course and you will never shoot flowers like that again.

"I teach the way I cook: hands-on. The manual will teach you the basics, but I am there to help you get the most out of your camera by showing you how it’s done. Then (here’s where the magic happens) you take control of your camera, newly confident, and make photos you never thought possible."
