Elective: Lightroom Classic Masterclass

What Will You Learn? If you’re already comfortable using Lightroom Classic (LRC), this masterclass will take your practical knowledge and LRC skills to the next level. We will not start with LRC tools. We will start with the photographer’s vision and what they are trying to convey to the viewer and only then will we attempt using a variety of LRC tools to accomplish that goal. This class will be different from any LRC classes you have taken! This workshop assumes that you are already generally comfortable using LRC (if you are not, see my workshop “Lightroom Classic From A to Z”). We will evaluate images (yours and mine) and determine how to use LRC to best convey to the viewer our vision of the image. We will use a unique case study method to explore editing possibilities and then use LRC to achieve optimal results. Rarely is there just one answer, so we will explore and learn together.

We will evaluate, critique and process both color and black and white images. With LRC’s many enhancements and improvements over the last 3+ years (i.e. think complex masking, generative remove, adaptive profiles, true noise reduction, the lens blur panel and b&w profiles), we now have even more sophisticated tools to fine-tune our photographs. We will reinforce what you already know about these new tools and provide advanced guidance on how to use them to achieve specific editing goals. With all the added LRC capabilities, an entirely new workflow is needed, which we will share. With these dramatic improvements, I find I am using Photoshop less and less.

This will be a small, hands-on class. You will need to bring a laptop with the latest version of LRC and at least a dozen of your RAW images. These may be images you have struggled with in the past or some of your favorite images that you want to see if there are other ways to visualize the final photograph, as well as to explore a variety of processing possibilities.
