
About the Course
Shooting at night is totally different from daytime. We will cover many highly creative approaches, such as painting with light, varying shutter speeds to either stop the action or accentuate it, using natural light as well as flash, capturing Glen Echo’s neon lighting to create amazing photographs of this art deco icon.
Basic knowledge of camera controls is necessary. What Will You Learn? Learning and then using a variety of creative techniques, you will spend the evening making stunning images unseen by the naked eye, of art deco masterpiece, Glen Echo.
Class Content:
· Using drag-flash
· Time exposures, zooming with a flash
· Painting with light
· Tripod use versus handheld

Frank Van Riper

Frank is an award-winning documentary and fine art photographer, journalist and author whose work has been published internationally.
He has lectured widely, including at the Maine Photographic Workshops and the Smithsonian Resident Associate program. In 2007 he was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Award from the University of Maine at Machias for his “outstanding career in journalism and photography” and in 2011 was inducted into the City College of New York Communications Alumni Hall of Fame.
At Photoworks he teaches a myriad of classes, including: Lighting Basics, Glen Echo Park at Night, La Faccia - Photographing the Face, and Photographing Artwork.
