About the Course

Get ready for a fun and impactful educational experience from behind the camera to in front of the computer! Using an iPhone, point and shoot, or DSLR, students will learn to create stunning digital photography and enhanced imagery in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. First learn the fundamentals of the medium, such as composition, exposure, light & shadow, and depth of field, then transition to developing their software and editing skills. By the end of the course, students will have tangible printed evidence of their newly honed talent. Bring your camera. Other materials included. More info: soradevore@gmail.com.

This camp blends creative exploration with practical skills, guiding students step-by-step from capturing their first shots to producing finished prints they’re proud of.

On the first day, we’ll get to know one another, review how cameras work, look at inspiring examples, and head outdoors for our first photo exercise. Students can choose to work independently or collaborate in pairs and small groups. During this time, I will provide one-on-one support — helping with camera settings, answering questions, and offering tips on composition and technique.

In classes two and three, we’ll move into the digital lab, where students download and review their images to see where they can improve. They’ll begin learning editing basics in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and those who love post-production can dive deeper into experimenting with their photos.

Classes four and five combine shooting new work, refining skills, and printing favorite images. Students usually rotate between small-group shooting sessions and computer time. With the support of an instructor and an intern, students are always guided as they grow their creative confidence behind the camera and at the computer.
