Printing Photographs on Alternative Papers for
Inkjet Printers

Digital images can be printed on different kinds of paper to change an image’s expression. Printing on different archival media, such as paper vellum, and cotton drawing and watercolor papers (both B/W and color papers) will contrast with commercial coated photography papers. Making Accordion Books for Photographers

This class will give you the skills and the confidence to produce a 5” square, 8-page accordion book to display your best images, tell a short story, or to function as a portable mini-gallery of your work. The first class will focus on examples of simple accordion books, image selection, and practice constructing a book. The second class will be devoted to construction of your own book, using your own images. A $5 to $10 supply fee will be payable to the instructor at the first meeting.

Documentary Photography (Learn to Tell Powerful Visual Stories

Learn the fundamentals of great storytelling: how to find and refine stories that capture the viewers’ imaginations; establish rapport with characters; envision, and compose documentary images; select equipment. During the period between sessions, students will shoot an assignment which will be reviewed and critiqued during the final session. The View Camera - Large Format Film Photography

Unlock the mysteries of large format film cameras! At this workshop, learn with 4x5 inch or bigger large format film cameras through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on experience using both field and studio large format view cameras. We will explore the construction and function of view cameras including lenses, film holders, camera movements (tilts, rise, shift) focusing, depth of field, needed gear, and various calculations to make proper exposures. Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced. Supplies Needed: None -- unless you have your own large format camera!
