PHOTOWORKS offers a dynamic program for young photographers ages 11 -18 with an emphasis on cultivating artistic identity, shooting style, and darkroom skills. For those students applying to post-secondary programs in fine arts we offer practical instruction on portfolio preparation and artistic statements. Our summer program includes week-long intensive photography camps that teach students the fundamentals of shooting and printing and allow them to explore themes of personal interest through a variety of artistic techniques combining traditional photography with multimedia and alternative processes. Registration is under way for the following young adult classes and summer camp sessions:

• Basic/Intermediate Photo for Young People
• Intermediate/Advanced Photo for Young People
• Digital Techniques for Teens

In addition, our summer partnership with Horizons at Maret introduces photography as an art to low income middle school students from the Adams Morgan community. Many students in our PHOTOWORKS Young Adult program volunteer their time to participate as counselors in this 6 week summer program.
