PHOTOWORKS Exhibitions

Glen Echo Park is a leading weekend destination for many local and regional arts enthusiasts. Nestled in the heart of the Park, the PHOTOWORKS Gallery offers a vibrant studio environment for exhibitions of work by professional commercial and fine art photographers, as well as emerging artists and talented students.

The Gallery is open to the public Sundays and Wednesdays from 1 to 8 pm, during class hours, and by appointment (301-229-4313). Photoworks is currently looking for an intern for Saturday open hours.

In 2008, the Gallery's featured work will include: an exhibition of new work by PHOTOWORKS faculty student work from the Advanced Master Printing class annual "Young Photographers" Spring exhibition a juried show of photographs that celebrate the documentary genre - part of a Documentary Weekend that includes speakers, workshops and individual critique sessions with a well-known documentary photographer or editor exhibitions by invitation.

Photographers are invited to submit their work through an annual call for exhibit proposals (see the "News and Events" page for current details) and a limited number of artists are invited by a committee of PHOTOWORKS faculty and local gallery owners to exhibit in the PHOTOWORKS gallery.

In addition, PHOTOWORKS holds several juried shows each year, including the Young Photographers Spring Exhibit, and the annual Documentary show. Calls for Images are published on the Photoworks website. PHOTOWORKS welcomes suggestions for future exhibitions.
