How to pick a class at Photoworks?

Many Photoworks instructors have websites where their work can be seen and you can communicate directly with the instructor.

  • If you are beginning to step into the world of digital or film photography consider the Basic and Intermediate Digital Camera classes, Basics: fstop, Shoot & Shutter, Beginning Photoshop or Elements courses or the Leap into Digital Photo class.
  • If you are interested in Portraiture check out the course descriptions for The Emotional Portrait, Portraits Unplugged or the class combining basic lighting, Great Portraits with Simple Lighting.
  • If you remain a darkroom enthusiast and want to experiment with old processes consider the Advanced Master Printing Class, the week end Darkroom class, the Young Photographers Darkroom, Washington by Night, Temperaprint or Cyanotype workshops.
  • For a look into creativity consider the new class, Veronica’s Veil, Images and Text or Beyond the Image II.
  • If you are looking to the commercial world consider Artist Survival class, Towards a Personal Style, Gallery Visits or Finishing Touches

We See You Here

Photoworks is a unique community of photographers, located in the arts enclave of Glen Echo Park, Maryland.

Our philosophy is simple: Creative dialogue with fellow photographers, an intimate learning environment, and outstanding faculty are the ingredients for creative growth. Through weekly classes, weekend workshops, open darkrooms, digital labs, monthly critiques sessions, lectures, and regularly changing gallery exhibits, members of the Photoworks community find common ground with other professional and student photographers while cultivating their own technical skills and artistic vision.
